Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the theory and technique of educational and psychological measurement, which includes the measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, and personality traits. The field is primarily concerned with the study of measurement instruments such as questionnaires and tests. It involves two major research tasks, namely: (i) the construction of instruments and procedures for measurement; and (ii) the development and refinement of theoretical approaches to measurement. Those who practise psychometrics are known as psychometrians and whilst they may also be practising psychologists they are not obliged to be so and could instead be (for example) human resources or learning and development professionals. Either way specific, separate, qualifications in psychometrics are required. From Wikipedia under the

Q. what is the difference between psychometrics and projective testing? Asked by Melissa Ilano - Fri Jun 20 01:23:46 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Psychometrics are tests that are valid and reliable, standarized scoring...e.g. answer many structured questions t or f. Get a score, that score is intrepreted by a set scoring sheet. Projective tests are things like the Rorschach inkblot, Thematic Apperception Test (pictures of ambiguous situations)...person tells a story. Scoring is more subjective (up to the interpretation of the tester, his/her skills and training). They are used to "get at" more of the person's unconscious, or things hidden... Answered by bluegoat114 - Fri Jun 20 01:35:46 2008 What is the minimum IQ needed to get a Ph.D in physics? Q. I know that there is a difference between achievement and aptitude...psychometrics is a hobby of mine...but since physics is a technical degree ...the reasoning skills generally needed I would assume are much higher than most degrees ...and not everyone would possess the mathematical ability to write an original doctoral thesis in this area + grasp all of the abstractness . So I'm thinking there must be a minimum IQ ...I have read that the average iq in this area is around 130 ...but there is obviously a difference between MINIMUM and AVERAGE... I suppose someone could have a very low verbal IQ ...but there would have to be a minimum numerial and spatial iq needed... Do you have any estimates? I could not see someone with an average… [cont.] Asked by dsfsdf a - Fri Sep 7 23:02:33 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. go to tickle dot com. Q. So basically watched the movie "Push" a little while ago and for some reason I'm still thinking about it. Do you actually think that people can do this and be this: Movers - people who can manipulate inanimate objects at varying distances. Pushers - people who can push specific thoughts, memories and even emotions into their targets Watchers - people who can self-induce visions of the future. Bleeders - people who can emit high-pitched sonic vibrations. Sniffs - people who have developed highly psychometrics who can track location of their target through toughing objects. Readers - people who are like sniffs but use physical contact Shifters - people who can temporarily shift patterns and create and illusions. Wipers - people who can… [cont.] Asked by CLC - Fri Aug 7 22:17:22 2009 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. Okay Parapsychologists are doing experiments on people who have psychic abilities like that. They have been doing experiments on these abilities for centuries and so far they cannot say whether or not it is real or just a fake. Hopefully in the near future they will have a break through that will assure us whether or not to believe or leave it as just a myth.
